Principal's Welcome

Dear Mariposa Elementary School Community,

 

On behalf of the entire Mariposa Elementary Staff, I extend a warm welcome to the 2023-2024 school year. I am Rick Torres, your principal, and I am thrilled to embark on this new academic journey with all of you. This year promises to be truly memorable as we continue to uphold our mission of supporting the holistic development of the whole child.

 

Our school takes pride in offering unique opportunities for enrichment and innovative instructional practices that foster growth and creativity. As part of our mission, we aim to provide a student-centered learning environment equipped with modern tools and facilities to prepare our Mariposa Monarchs for promising futures.

 

Our STEAM Lab, featuring Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, serves as a space where young minds can expand their problem-solving skills and ignite their creative thinking. With a maker's space, various robotics options, and flexible furniture, students engage with 21st-century learning tools, enabling them to face the challenges of tomorrow. In addition, we continue to enrich the arts and music experiences at Mariposa. Students in grades 2-6 will receive piano lessons in our state-of-the-art Roland Keyboarding Music Lab.

 

At Mariposa, we value family-school connectedness, and our PTA has thoughtfully planned events that encourage participation from everyone. Whether it's STEM and Art nights or fun-filled BINGO and Movie Nights, these occasions are perfect for celebrating learning and fostering a sense of community.

Our dedicated teachers will continue to provide a world-class educational experience, integrating art into daily practices to enhance student retention, engagement, and deeper learning experiences.

 

As principal, it is essential for me to hear the voices of parents and families. To facilitate this, we will continue "Coffee with the Principal," where you can join me for informal discussions on important topics. My door is always open to teachers, students, and parents alike, as I am eager to listen to your hopes and dreams for Mariposa and how I can best serve you and your children.

 

Our mission at Mariposa is clear and unwavering. We believe in supporting the holistic development of each child through a collaborative effort involving students, staff, and the broader community. Embracing diversity, we strive to create a positive, student-centered learning environment that equips our students with lifelong skills, preparing them for an ever-advancing future. We are dedicated to nurturing responsible and ethical members of society, empowering our students to thrive in an ever-changing world.
