BOUSD Appoints New Principal at Mariposa Elementary School

Superintendent Dr. Brad Mason stated, “Mr. Torres is an experienced and passionate leader with a proven commitment to students and families. We are thrilled to welcome him to the BOUSD leadership team and are proud to have such a talented educator joining our district.”
 
With 20 years of experience in the field of education, Mr. Torres has served as an elementary school teacher, Teacher on Special Assignment in the Student Assessment and Educational Measurement Department and assistant principal. Most recently, Torres served as the assistant principal at Crescent and La Veta Elementary Schools in Orange Unified School District where his experience includes assisting in the planning, development and coordination of various instructional programs such as a new coding program and STEAM lab for students.
Additionally, he provided support for the implementation of numerous professional development opportunities for staff including restorative practices, and a “whole child” approach to education.
 
Mr. Torres has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master's degree in Education Administration, both from California State University, Fullerton.
 
“I’m honored and excited to join the Mariposa Monarch family,” said Mr. Torres. “I look forward to collaborating with the students, staff and community to continue to build upon the strong traditions and commitment to excellence that has become synonymous with Mariposa and the Brea Olinda Unified School District.”
 
Mr. Torres will assume his position with BOUSD later this summer.
